Sažetak
Višegodišnje trave predstavljaju osnovu održivog stočarstva i bazu industrije stočne hrane, čineći osnovnu hranu preživara u oblastima umerenog klimata kao komponente prirodnih i sejanih pašnjaka i livada koje se mogu koristiti putem ispaše, kosidbe, senaže i silaže. Najbitnije vrste za stočnu hranu su ježevica, engleski ljulj, livadski vijuk, visoki vijuk, mačji rep italijanski ljulj, francuski ljulj, crveni vijuk i bezosni vlasen. Usled činjenice da genotip, odnosno sorta u prinosu krmnih useva može učestvovati i više od 50%, oplemenjivanju višegodišnjih trava se posvećuje velika pažnja. Najbitniji preduslov oplemenjivanja je da početni materijal poseduje dovoljnu količinu genetičke varijabilnosti. Osnovne osobine višegodišnjih trava na koje se vrši selekcija su prinos i kvalitet suve materije, vreme stasavanja perzistentnost i tolerancija na sušu i prinos semena. Najuspešnija metoda oplemenjivanja višegodišnjih trava je fenotipska rekurentna selekcija modifikovana u cilju skraćenja samog ciklusa selekcije i redukcije nepoželjnih ukrštanja, praćena polikros metodom ukrštanja i formiranjem sintetičke sorte. Kao rezultat dugo godišnjeg oplemenjivačkog rada u domaćim naučnim institutima priznato je i na sortnu listu uvršteno 18 krmnih i jedna parkovska sorta višegodišnjih trava. U budućem oplemenjivačkom radu posebnu pažnja treba posvetiti uvođenju novih savremenih metoda oplemenjivanja i proširenju broja vrsta višegodišnjih trava uključenih u oplemenjivačke programe.
